The 13th Global Tire Technology Forum grandly opened in Qingdao, Shandong Province on June 24. Centered on the theme of Green, Low-carbon and Innovative Development, the forum brought together more than 300 academicians from the industry, leading tire enterprises and research experts from universities to conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on intelligent manufacturing, low-carbon materials, global layout and circular economy.

Academician Guo Konghui from the Chinese Academy of Engineering put forward four major development directions for the industry: intensive research on eco-friendly rubber materials, consolidated basic research on tire dynamics, full-process digital intelligent manufacturing, and unimpeded channels for the transformation of industry-university-research technologies. Academician Zhang Liqun emphasized the proposal to accelerate the research and development of bio-based rubber and establish a carbon emission reduction system covering the full life cycle of tires.
The 2026 Technical White Paper for the Tire Industry was released on-site simultaneously, identifying low rolling resistance tires dedicated to new energy vehicles, recyclable and circular tires, and intelligent sensing tires as the core R&D tracks for the next three years, offering technical references for Chinese tire manufacturers to expand overseas markets and upgrade their products.
