Foreign Trade Policy News | Turkey Launches Anti-Dumping Investigation into Tire Cord Fabric, Export

8.jpg

On June 16, the Ministry of Trade of Turkey issued an official notice to launch an anti-dumping investigation targeting polyamide tire cord fabrics originating in China and Vietnam. The investigation period spans October 2024 to September 2025, and punitive tariffs will be imposed subsequently, which will exert a direct impact on the export supply chain of all-steel and semi-steel tires.

Tire cord fabric serves as the core skeletal raw material of tires. Numerous domestic rubber supporting enterprises based in Guangrao, Qingdao and Zhejiang export large volumes of their products to Turkey and markets across the Middle East. Industry associations have put forward three major response plans for tire exporters:

1. Restructure supply chains and adopt locally produced cord fabrics from Southeast Asia as supporting materials;

2. Improve corporate cost and production ledgers, and actively participate in responding to the anti-dumping case to secure lower tariff rates;

3. Diversify target markets by expanding distribution channels in Africa, Central Asia and Latin America to mitigate trade risks concentrated in a single region.

Meanwhile, the new EU tire regulations of 2026 will take full effect on July 7, mandating stricter standards for the grip and noise performance of worn tires. Tires exported to the EU are required to complete carbon footprint assessment and labeling certification in advance.
